Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on the 26th of March, 1991. She is an American musician and singer. She was the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. Her first EP, Pho which was released on 21 October 2016 was released on Dreamville Records. The singer began to earn recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released on May 19, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music to the Internet in 2012, when she released her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. She continued to upload her tracks online through 2014, which included the self-released single Bound. In 2015, she was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes Album on Sweat it out on July 21st. J. Cole had her submit her tracks for the Dreamville Team in the following year because he was hoping for Rihanna to work together on a few references. On the 8th of December, it was revealed that she had signed to Dreamville Records. The singer appeared on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. The singer released Pho, her debut album on the 21st of October in 2016. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change and also performed in her own 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as the opening act. In 2018, she went on to appear on two songs with her labelmates EarthGang and EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. The 16th of July, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream of her album debut Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on the 5th of September. On the 9th November, she released another two singles, titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). On the 13th of November two singles called No One and pedigree. They then teamed up on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16, and it was released as a single on the 26th of February 2019 for her debut album the same title. The music video premiered 20 February 2019 in order to accompany the track. Within one week, it had over 3 million views. She supported 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour back in December of 2018.
